The Couple We Kept Together |
What's In The Book

![]() John & Lydia Gamble
Our parents were married 65 years and Dad went to be with Mom 69 days after she died on the winter solstice of 2012. I took it upon myself to put plans in place for Mom and Dad in 1992 with my siblings. Some symptoms of dementia had surfaced which I share in my book. We turned out to be one of those rare families who PLAN WHILE THEY CAN! You can learn from us. It was 20 years from when we put things in place to their final graduation to heaven. Only the last five years required 24/7 care. We had medical and mental crisis from time to time. My book Done With Dementia is the experience of what we did and how we managed. It wasn't easy, but very rewarding. I also share a few regrets that only hindsight reveals. Our 'hindsight' can be your 'foresight' as you take on the challenge to PLAN WHILE YOU CAN because when it comes to dementia, If you wait, it may be too late to put the legal, logical and loving things into place to keep your parents together. |
Here are some of the Chapter Headings from the book designed to help you decide if you CAN or WANT to care for your parents the way we did.
